STRAWBERRY PICKING HAS ENDED
We will see you again June 2018 when you can experience the fun and joy of walking the straw covered rows and picking strawberries fresh off the plant. Or we offer the convenience of fresh picked berries in our cold storage room ready to purchase in our country store. Our family and employees look forward to sharing this “Fresh Pick” of the season and experience all that we have to offer at the Apple Barn Orchard & Winery and strawberry fields. Fresh picked or fresh from the country store, we have the strawberries you are craving.
The strawberry season lasts about 3 weeks, weather permitting with a typical strawberry season starting mid-June and running for 21-24 days, into early July.
Containers are provided for picking. Best time: Pick early in the morning when berries are still cool and the sun has not had time to soften them, or late in the afternoon when the sun is setting. How to pick: Look under the leaves for berries. Use both hands…one to hold the leaves and the other to pick the berries. Keep the stems and hulls on the fruit. Don’t pile the berries too high or the bottom berries will be crushed.
